3D printing: models, try-in dentures and surgical guides
We print working models, try-in dentures, surgical guides and custom appliances from intraoral scans and digital design data. For scanned cases, when a physical model is needed we produce it from the same data without asking for a separate impression.

Indications
When to choose it
- Working and opposing models from intraoral scans
- Try-in dentures for complete and hybrid prostheses
- Guide for implant surgery (based on approved planning data)
- Custom appliances such as custom trays and record bases
- Models for the wax-up and mock-up key
Points to discuss with the laboratory
- Surgical guide accuracy depends on correct registration of the CBCT and scan data; the plan must be approved by the dentist.
- A printed try-in denture is not designed for permanent use.
- Printed models can change dimensionally with heat and long storage; let us know about cases that will be on hold for a long time.
For the dentist
Plaster-free model
For scanned work, the model is printed from the same data without pouring plaster.
Trying in the digital set-up
A digitally set-up denture can be tried in the mouth in printed form before definitive production.
Guide made to the plan
The surgical guide is designed and printed according to the implant positions you approve.

Frequently asked questions
What data should I send for a surgical guide?
You need to send the CBCT in DICOM format and an intraoral scan of the same arch. State the implant system and surgical kit you will use; the sleeve size is chosen accordingly. The guide is printed after you approve the plan.
Is a printed model as accurate as a plaster model?
Accuracy depends on scan quality and on the model being printed for its intended use. Printed models should be protected from heat and long storage.
How long can a try-in denture be used in the mouth?
A try-in denture is used for a short time to try in aesthetics, phonetics and occlusion. It should not be used in place of a temporary denture.
