Complete Dentures
A complete denture is a tissue-supported removable prosthesis for a fully edentulous upper and/or lower jaw. We take every stage, from custom tray to tooth set-up try-in, according to your records, and we do not proceed to finishing until the vertical dimension and set-up are approved.

Indications
When to choose it
- Complete edentulism in the upper and/or lower jaw
- Replacement of an ill-fitting, fractured or worn old denture
- Re-establishing the occlusion in a patient with lost vertical dimension
- Immediate complete denture after extraction (according to the dentist's plan)
- Single-arch complete denture opposing natural teeth, a fixed or an implant prosthesis
Points to discuss with the laboratory
- In a severely resorbed mandible retention may remain limited; an implant overdenture should be considered.
- If hyperplastic or mobile tissue is not treated before the impression, base fit will be affected.
- If the opposing arch has natural teeth or a fixed prosthesis, the risk of base fracture increases; metal reinforcement should be discussed.
For the dentist
Staged registration
The custom tray, wax rim and set-up try-in are separate stages. Each stage is the reference for the next.
Set-up to the marked lines
Teeth are set to the midline, canine line and smile line you mark on the wax rim. Tooth form is chosen according to the patient's age and facial form.
Balanced occlusion
The set-up aims for balanced contacts that do not tip the base during function.

What we need when you send a case
- Primary impression and a border-moulded final impression taken with a custom tray
- Recording vertical dimension, midline, canine and smile lines on the wax rim
- Tooth shade and form preference
- Photographs at rest and smiling; with the old denture, if available
- Correction notes after the try-in
Production process
- Custom trayBorders are outlined on the model from the primary impression and a custom tray is made.

- Articulator mountingThe models are mounted on the articulator using your bite registration.
- Tooth set-up try-inThe selected teeth are set in wax; aesthetics, phonetics and occlusion are checked in the mouth.

Frequently asked questions
How should I record the vertical dimension?
The vertical dimension determined by rest position and phonetic tests should be recorded on the wax rim. Marking the midline, canine line and smile line on the wax rim improves the accuracy of the set-up. If the record base is not stable in the mouth, the record will not be reliable.
Can I use the old denture as a reference?
Yes. The tooth length, form and lip support of an old denture the patient is happy with can serve as a reference for the new set-up. You can send the denture or a copy with the Rx form.
What can be changed after the set-up try-in?
Tooth position, midline, length and occlusal relationship are rearranged according to your try-in notes. If the bite registration was incorrect, the models are remounted on the articulator with a new record.
