Orthodontic Appliances, Plates and Retainers
We produce removable orthodontic appliances, retainers and plates according to the design and movement plan drawn by the dentist. Screws and wires are from Dentaurum and Scheu Dental; if information is missing from the design, we confirm it with you before starting production.

Points to discuss with the laboratory
- Functional appliances and non-standard designs require a design discussion before production.
- If the patient does not wear the appliance regularly, the planned movements may not be achieved.
- If an alginate impression is left standing it distorts and the plate will not seat; pour it without delay or send a scan.

Design confirmation before production
If the drawing or movement plan on the Rx form is incomplete, you are asked about screw direction and spring positions before production.
Wire bending fitted to the model
Adams clasps and retentive wires are bent to fit the teeth on the model; seating of the plate is tested on the model.
Thinned borders
Acrylic borders are thinned and polished so they do not irritate the soft tissue.

What we need when you send a case
- Upper and lower alginate impressions (pour without delay) or intraoral scan
- Bite registration for appliances with screws and appliances involving both arches
- Appliance drawing: screw type and direction, teeth to be clasped, spring and archwire positions
- Note on treatment goal and movement plan
- Wire or clear retainer preference
Production process
- Model preparationA working model is poured from the impression and clasp areas are marked.
- Wire bendingClasps, springs and the labial bow are bent on the model.
- Screw placementThe expansion screw is fixed to the model in the direction and position you specify.
- Acrylic and finishingThe plate body is completed in acrylic; the borders are thinned and polished.
- Model checkThe appliance is checked on the model for seating, clasp retention and screw function.

Do you produce clear plates?
We produce clear plates and clear retainers with digital planning. For cases needing a multi-stage movement plan, the planning process and number of stages are agreed with you before the case.
How should I communicate the appliance design?
A diagram drawn on the Rx form or markings on the model are sufficient. You need to specify the screw direction, the teeth to be clasped and the direction of spring movement.
Who decides the thickness of a night guard?
Plate thickness and how occlusal contacts are arranged are decided by the dentist's plan. If you state this on the Rx form, the plate is made accordingly. Ask us about the plate materials available.
